# Serious Controls

> Federated DERMS for coordinating distributed energy, alongside building management, battery energy management, boiler controls and process automation.

SERIOUS CONTROLS LLC combines energy-management software, connected hardware and implementation services for utilities, aggregators, enterprise energy teams, building owners and industrial operators.

DERMS means distributed energy resource management system. A virtual power plant (VPP) is a coordinated group of resources, not a separate name for the software. BMS means building management system; IAQ means indoor air quality.

DSO DERMS covers distribution networks; eDERMS covers enterprise portfolios; aDERMS covers aggregated partner resources. DERMS Orchestrator connects these environments. Equipment compatibility, deployment architecture, pricing and available functions depend on the selected solution and project.
